A message from Jim...

Dear USA Dance Southern WI members, friends, and fellow dancers,
As we approach the end of 2011, I am finishing my third year as President of our organization, and am preparing to pass the torch to a very competent replacement, in Roger Clauer. As everyone should know, I have stepped down as President of USA Dance Southern WI, and I will be leaving the board at the end of the year, after spending 8 years as Treasurer and 3 years as President. During those 11 years our chapter has made many improvements. These improvements have resulted in better attendance at our events, a more positive feeling about our chapter, and an overall greater awareness of our chapter and USA Dance in general.
I would like to take a moment to say that it’s been a pleasure leading our chapter again this year, and getting to know many of you better. I’d like to thank the rest of our board members for their hard work throughout the year, helping to make sure that we have dance events that are fun and exciting like our members have come to expect. The board has done an excellent job implementing many new measures I’ve suggested we put in place, which is resulting in the ability to transition to a new board with confidence that the chapter will remain healthy and successful.
I’d like to give a special thank you to 3 other board members that are also leaving the board after this year. Al Schuh, our Vice President and webmaster, and Ron and Ann Kobiske, who recently have been board members at large, but have served in various positions since our chapter started in 1994.
Most importantly, I’d like to thank each one of you for being part of our chapter and for contributing to the continued success of our chapter by attending our monthly dances, keeping your memberships current, and promoting USA Dance to others. Providing high quality dances to our membership every month is expensive, and without a consistent membership and successful attendance to our dances, our chapter would struggle to survive. I encourage everyone to please show your support to the new 2012 board, so that our chapter continues to be successful.
Last Sunday we held our Holiday Ball, and during this event we took in a much needed 175 pounds of food, and $31 in cash for the Waukesha Food Pantry to provide for those less fortunate. Al Schuh who delivered the goods mentioned that the pantry was pretty empty, and they were very appreciative of our generosity. Thank you to everyone who participated.
I’ve enjoyed serving as our chapter President again this year, and I appreciate the many positive comments I’ve received throughout the year and since my announcement that I’m leaving the board. Good people working with me on the board have contributed to our success, so I want to thank them again. We’ve put together another great lineup for 2012, which again includes a wonderful dinner dance at the WI Club.
I’m happy to say that I leave behind a very healthy and successful chapter. Thank you again for your membership and your support of our chapter of USA Dance. Please continue to attend as many of our dances as you can. Again, I appreciate the opportunity I’ve had to serve as Treasurer, and as the President of our USA Dance Southern WI chapter, and wish much success to the new board.
